In the fuel cell, the primary power unit, constantly power is generated by a chemical reaction The waste product from the reaction is pure water. The demand for energy has peaks and troughs and to retain the performance the batteries are called upon in the peaks and charged up in the troughs. When braking the electric motors act as alternators converting the kinetic energy back into electricity stored in the batteries; this allows the driveline to save approx. 70% of the energy than that of the conventional system.This method of generating power is both quiet and clean and is well matched to the efficiency of the electric motors.

Due to the compact nature of the batteries the weight keeps low which benefits in a high payload and a large daily operational range. Hytruck thus provides an environmentally neutral, no harmful gaseous emissions or particulates, silent distribution truck. The intelligent matching of the driveline components, from which the potential has not yet been full exploited, means that compared to the equivalent diesel truck the Hytruck only requires 30% of the energy!
